A true display of religious tolerance and 1Malaysia

A true display of religious tolerance and 1Malaysia

The above picture was shared in Facebook and it is worth more than a thousand words.

Malay volunteers were seen helping elderly Hindu devotees in Batu Caves climb up the stairs to fulfil their annual Thaipusam rituals.

No rhetoric. Just a display of the Malaysian way which is much lacking amongst religioust extremists in the country.

Surely, the volunteers have shown Malaysians that deeds are louder than just words.

Gerakan Deputy Speaker Syed Abdul Razak Alsagoff said “this is the true spirit of religious tolerance and national unity”.

“It is through such leadership by example that Malaysia needs badly in face of growing religious intolerance and extremism,” he added.

Syed Razak, who is Gerakan’s nominee to contest N.37 Bukit Lanjan in the coming 14th General Election (GE14), said “this is exactly what I have been advocating in this blog for Bukit Lanjan to become a role model for communities and societies”.

“The volunteers have done Malaysians and Malaysia proud. Their message is loud and clear!

“We want Malaysia to remain harmonious and prosperous,” he added.
