Mah tells GE14 Gerakan candidates to work doubly hard for success

Gerakan president Mah Siew Keong says the coming 14th General Election (GE14) will be extremely tough for the Barisan Nasional (BN) component party.

“However, all party candidates must not give up hope. They must work extremely or doubly hard to win back the confidence of Malaysians,” he added.

Mah said the only way for Gerakan candidates to have a chance to succeed “is to serve Malaysians sincerely by raising the rakyat (people)’s woes and trying to resolve them”.

Speaking at a pre-Chinese New Year walkabout at the Desa Jaya wet market on Monday (Jan 23, 2017), the Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister said
: “I hope Malaysians will in GE14 elect candidates who really care for their electorates.”

As for N.37 Bukit Lanjan, Mah said Gerakan had nominated Syed Abdul Razak Alsagoff as its candidate for GE14.

He said the Cantonese-Hokkien speaking Syed Razak was a typical “Satu Malaysia” candidate for Bukit Lanjan.

“He is a first timer in a general election and he is also extremely hard working. I am surprised that he has even started campaigning to introduce himself by distributing flyers.

“I hope Bukit Lanjan voters will give him a chance to prove himself as a servant of the rakyat,” he added.

Syed Razak said he was a local boy and that “I will serve sincerely and honestly”.

“As a local boy who had stayed in Kepong for 30 years, I do understand your municipal, socio-economic problems. I will be very people-centric in my service to communities,” he added.

Mah and Syed Razak visited Tabika Kemas Desa Jaya to give away Chinese New Year goody bags to pupils and staff of the playschool before taking a walkabout at the wet market.
