Changi Airport hits 60 million passengers … what about Malaysia?
Those living in a world of their own or living in denial will always blast those who compare Malaysia with Singapore.
Their lame excuse has always been that Singapore is an island state, much smaller than Malaysia, and thus is easier to manage.
“That is such a lame and invalid excuse for management failure,” Gerakan Deputy Speaker Syed Abdul Razak Alsagoff said.
“In terms of racial composition, Malaysia and Singapore do not differ much. The main races are Chinese, Malays and Indians.
“In terms of natural resources, Malaysia is blessed with abundance. Singapore has zero natural resources.
“But Singapore is a much richer state than Malaysia in terms of reserves, well ahead economically and in education than Malaysia,” he added.
“But, there are still many Malaysians who still choose to ignore the truth and facts about Singapore’s runaway success compared with Malaysia,” he added.
The decision to build T4 was first announced on 1 March 2012. T4 is built on a plot of land that was originally occupied by the Budget Terminal, which was demolished on 25 September 2012 to make way for a new, larger, full-service passenger building (T4) that will cater to Changi Airport's growing traffic. T4 will serve both full-service and low cost carriers, and have an annual passenger movement capacity of 16 million. This would bring Changi Airport's total passenger capacity to 82 million per annum … for more, go to … http://t4.changiairport.com/en |
Syed Razak, who is Gerakan’s nominee to contest N.37 Bukit Lanjan in the coming 14th General Election (GE14), said Malaysians, including politicians, should start asking why Singaporeans continue to progress that much faster than Malaysia.
“Be honest with your answer, face reality and the truth to start innovating progressive policies to move Malaysia forward.
“There is much for us to learn and emulate from Singapore. Pathetic. Period,” he added.
Syed Razak said in terms of air traffic volume or airport activities, Malaysia was also losing out to the land-scarce island republic.
“Why is that so? Don’t we have many more green and natural and heritage attractions?” he asked.

The 353 passengers on Scoot flight TR7 arriving from Gold Coast, Australia were treated to champagne, goodie bags and a buffet when they touched down at Changi Airport Terminal 2 on Monday afternoon.
Six passengers were also selected to take part in a quiz, in which they stood to win prizes such as leather goods and jewellery.
All six also won a pair of return air tickets to six Scoot destinations.
Changi Airport Group (CAG) chief executive officer Lee Seow Hiang noted the airport's passenger traffic had increased 10 per cent since 2012, when it crossed the 50-million passenger mark.
Tan Lye Teck, CAG executive vice-president for airport management, noted factors such as the increase in budget carriers, which had caused passenger traffic to grow in recent years.
He said Changi Airport's expansion, including the upcoming Jewel, scheduled to open in 2019, and the Changi East project, would help it meet the growth in air travel.
